After more than a decade giving scientists an unprecedented glimpse at Saturn and its rings, Nasa’s Cassini is set to embark on its ‘Grande Finale’ – a suicide mission into the burning heart of its planet.
This week (on April 26), Cassini will begin its first in a series of dives through the 1,500-mile-wide (2,400km) gap between Saturn and its rings which will eventually see it destroyed by the planet’s atmosphere.
