Mysterious glowing ‘blob’ 10 million light years away could be hiding a giant black hole

A giant “blob” of gas has been found 10 million light years away – and astronomers are unclear about what is making it glow.

Only a small number of these rare blobs, officially known as enormous Lyman-alpha nebula (ELAN), have been found in the Universe but this latest discovery is the brightest and among the largest ever seen.
