Physicists make progress in near-impossible hunt for rare particle decay

Physicists have come a step closer in the search for a mysterious type of radioactive decay, thought almost impossible to observe.

Known as neutrinoless double-beta decay, the interaction would be a breakthrough in particle physics if it were observed as it would prove neutrinos are their own antiparticle.
